Nothing Doing, Nothing Going

Locked down and dreaming

It is the third wave of Covid in Nova Scotia and I'm doing my part by continuing to very aggressively stay home. The weather has been encouragingly wet and windy so it hasn't been too hard to just tuck in and rest at the residence.

Boat shopping and Learning to Sail

While I'm not yet in the position to actually buy a boat, I have been riveted to Kijiji marketplace. It is part of my routine now. Almost everytime I pick up my phone I glance to see the total number of sailboats listed for sail on Kijiji all across Canada. As I write this, about noon on Sunday May 9th, 2021, there are currently 947 ads posted. I do want a dinghy in which to learn. I hope to lay hands on one of those in the very near future.

The Van

I have a 2005 Chevy express AWD van with the express access package. I've been fixing it up for a couple years and slowly making the conversion into a camper. My plan is take it on the road post-pandemic. Hopefully that means later this fall. Which brings me to the next project...

Downhill Skiing

In my misspent youth and university years I used to ski quite often. But my ski-buddy had a baby and my Dad had to give it up for health reasons so I kind of dropped off. Also I had no money. So now I have some money and I'm looking very forward to visiting all the ski hills I used to see at the ski show in Ottawa and never got to visit. I got some new-to-me gear last winter and then immediately broke my arm in an unrelated incident.

Hiking, Camping, and Trout Fishing

I moved across the country in 2019 and then within months went into lockdown. I've been to a few campsites and short trails around Nova Scotia but I look forward to getting out much more in the near future. I'll be doing trip reports here.

And this blog itself...

There are improvements to be made to the automation and publishing of this very affordable blogging project. I should make a list.
