Go West!

Quest for the West

Warren Miller said, "If you don't do it this year, you will be one year older when you do." I'm making a bunch of plans now so I know what I want to do when this whole thing breaks open. Maybe it's optimistic to assume I'll just be able to tour around in a van and go skiing for a while but frankly I need the hope!

This pandemic is costing us all here more than a year so I want to make the next one really count. I've got the AWD van. Ironically I have to wait until it's warmer out to glue in the insulation pieces I want for winterizing... But it's coming along. And I got some new skis and have been trying to get some decent exercise.

So while I've got the van and the big fantasy is just to drive to Fernie or wherever, I can't ski like these guys at all. I'd rate myself mediocre-to-average and could probably benefit from a lesson or two. I figure the thing to do is to work up to it.

I'm gonna see them all

What if I tried to go to as many ski resorts along the way as possible? Surely it stands to reason that by the time I got to The Lizard Range that I'd have picked up some skills? Anyways I've started a list of hills nearby. I can work from those and then if the timing is right next year I can follow the winter as far west as I can make it. Maybe it will be a multi-year attempt. Who knows? Sounds fun though.
